Researchers of CNST and Politecnico di Milano, in collaboration with Neuroscience and Brain Technologies of IIT Genova and surgeons from Ospedale Sacro Cuore in Negrar (VR) demonstrated that an organic semiconducting polymer in form of thin film  is able to restore light sensitivity in explants of blind rat retinas, with sensitivity to irradiances compatible with physiological levels of illumination.

This result is a big step towards the implementation of a functional artificial retina and gained the cover in Nature Photonics.
