Born in Monza (Italy) on October 21st, 1982.

2006: Master degree in Materials Engineering in Politecnico di Milano, cum laude.

2007: "Alta Scuola Politecnica" diploma with merit, achieved together with the Master degree in Materials Engineering in Politecnico di Torino.

2009: PhD in Materials Engineering in Politecnico di Milano, cum laude.

Since January 2010, post doc in the Centre for Nanoscience and Technology - Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia.

Projects

 

Research activity involves the design, synthesis and processing of functional conjugated molecules to be used in organic photosensitive devices.

 

Systematic studies are dedicated at understanding the relationship between chemical structure and electro/optical properties of materials, to optimize their response in devices. Care is devoted to the choice of the molecular structure and of the substituents in order to achieve a sufficient solubility in organic solvents allowing a simple and inexpensive material processing.

Spectroscopic characterization (UV-visible absorption, photoluminescence, FT-infrared, Raman) supports the synthetic activity.

Current research projects regard:

  • thiophene based polymers for hybrid photovoltaics
  • molecular interlayer design for engineered organic-oxide interfaces 
  • oligomers with quinoid structure as dyes for bulk heterojunction solar cells
  • thiol functionalized oligomers for self assembled monolayers
  • electrospinning of conjugated polymers
