Forthcoming Internships and PhD Scholarships on High-Frequency Printed Organic and Hybrid Electronics at Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia

The Center for Nanoscience and Technology (CNST) in Milan is one of the network nodes set up by Fondazione Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia (IIT) in close collaboration with Italian academic institutions. Research at CNST focuses on material science and spans the whole gamut of R&D, from conception and realization of a new material to its comprehensive characterization through to its final application in devices. CNST is specialized on the following areas: Material Chemistry, Molecular Optolectronics, Printed Electronics, Nanotechnology Fabrication and Optical – Photophysical - Morphological and Theoretical Characterization.

CNST will soon open internship positions and PhD scholarships on projects aiming at the development of printed, flexible and light-weight electronics capable of operating at high-frequency, i.e. the GHz range. This would represent a technological breakthrough, enabling for example wireless communication among wearable and distributed sensors, with important applications in wireless body area network, health-care monitoring as well as logistics and smart packaging. Projects will span from fundamental investigations on charge transport in high mobility printed organic and hybrid semiconductors, high resolution printing and direct-writing techniques to development of novel printed device architectures. 

Internship contracts may last up to 12 months with the possibility of being enrolled in a PhD program. A PhD call will be launched in April 2015.
